The Bloomsburg Club Baseball Team traveled down to Florida for their annual Collegiate Spring Break Baseball Tounament. Overall the went 3-1 in the tournament. They were able to defeat Robert Morris, Western Michigan, and a Rawlings "Free Agent" Team.
Robert Morris Highlights:
Stellar pitching performance by freshmen Erik Stalford and relief by Michael Horvath as they gave up a combined 3 runs. Trailing 3-1 in the top of the last inning, Neal Hoover hit a 3 run home run to give the Bloomsburg Huskies the lead for good. Jon Snyder went 4-4 as well.
Western Michigan Highlights:
Senior Matt Traino was on the mound for the Huskies going the distance as Bloomsburg defeated Western Michigan 13-8. Bill Lewis made the defensive play of the year with a diving play at 3rd base. Key contributors were seniors Sam Stroman and Danny Gaa as well.
Free Agent Team Highlights:
Bill Lewis took the mound and dominated the day. Freshman Jake Granteed closed for the Huskies as they defeated Rawlings Free Agents 8-4. Huskies combined for 14 hits and Matt Malatesta had 7 put outs in center field.
Overall Bloomsburg Club Baseball finished with their best record in school history for their annual Florida Trip. Every single guy on the trip made a contribution to the teams success down there. Only 6 teams finished better then they did out of a total of 28 teams.
The trip has them ready for their conference games to begin against Franklin and Marshall April 2nd and 3rd. Also we have a scrimmage against Johns Hopkins March 26th. Come out and support the team as they kick-off their spring season.
